GTA 6 Editions: Standard vs Ultimate

Two editions, one pre-order bonus that is not part of either, and a physical box with no disc in it. Everything below is a ledger row you can open and check.

The short answer

The Ultimate Edition costs more and adds content to the same single-player game — threaded through Jason and Lucia's story rather than sitting in a separate mode. Neither edition unlocks earlier: there is no early-access tier.

In the US that is $79.99 against $99.99. Everywhere else it depends on where you are, and by more than the exchange rate: across the 12 markets we read, the Ultimate Edition runs between 22.2% more (Brazil) and 28.6% more (United Kingdom), sitting at exactly 25% in 5 of them. That spread is our own arithmetic on the two prices each store lists — the prices themselves are here.

What each edition contains

Standard

  • The base game
  • The Vintage Vice City Pack
  • One month of GTA+

Ultimate

  • The base game
  • The Ultimate Edition upgrade
  • The Vintage Vice City Pack
  • One month of GTA+

Two items in the Ultimate upgrade are confirmed by name: the '95 Grotti Cheetah and the Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers. The rest of what the upgrade holds has not been itemised, and we are not going to guess at it.

The pre-order bonus belongs to neither edition

The Vintage Vice City Pack is the part most write-ups get wrong. It is included with any pre-order or purchase made before November 20, 2026 — Standard or Ultimate, digital or boxed. Buying the more expensive edition does not get you more of it, and buying the cheaper one does not cost you any of it.

It holds outfits and hairstyles and — the specific correction — the '55 Vapid Stanier, which is not Ultimate Edition content. Widely syndicated coverage files that car under the Ultimate Edition. Rockstar's own asset labelling on its media page puts it in the pre-order pack, and that is the authority we follow.

Digital or boxed, which is a real decision here

The physical version is a download code in a box, not a disc, so it installs the same way the digital one does and needs the same free space either way. It is available from November 12, the same day digital pre-loading begins.

The one asymmetry worth knowing: the free month of GTA+ comes with digital pre-orders. The Vintage Pack comes with both. Pre-orders opened on June 25 at midnight local time, and the game is sold through the platform stores, the Rockstar Games Store and retail.

What has not been announced

No Collector’s Edition. The line-up named in the pre-order release is Standard and Ultimate, and nothing else has ever been mentioned — which is a statement about silence, not a promise that none is coming.
